Weyerbacher is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries for flavorful and potent beers, with Heresy following suit. Heresy is a dark, smoldering cauldron of delight, that is born from Weyerbacher’s Old Heathen which is then aged in whiskey barrels.

A lovely black pour yields a thin froth that lingers, then disappears. Pleasant vanilla and bourbon essences tantalizingly rise from the glass. Heresy is smooth drinking with a sweet cocoa start and a roasted coffee finish. Lots of bourbon flavor mixed with roasted malts.

Not as strong as other barrel-aged beers, Heresy has a great balance of rich flavors in an easy-drinking brew.

Overall a very enjoyable beer.
